Bilmuri Live in Toronto - July 30, 2025: The Unstoppable Bilmuri Summer Slammer Tour

Photos and review by Zachary Coleman

Bilmuri, pronounced like the actor, has had quite a career leading up to this past year. The band was formed by Johnny Franck, who was most notably known for being the former rhythm guitarist/vocalist for crab-core legends, Attack Attack! Until now.  Franck has now made a new, but familiar, name for himself in his current group with the success of their latest album, American Motor Sports. They had a completely sold-out headlining tour last year after the album release and then went overseas to open for Sleep Token on their massive arena tour.

Now, for the second time in a year, Bilmuri is back headlining in Toronto, ON, Canada to a near sold-out crowd. However, this time it is at History. A venue over two times the size of the last venue they played in Toronto. John Harvie opened up the show by borrowing Bilmuri guitarist, Reese Maslan. John Harvie had a similar vibe and sound to Bilmuri. The crowd had a very positive reaction to the opener, and he left it all on the stage.

Bilmuri opened up his set with everyone singing along to the audio of the Breaking Benjamin hit, “Blow Me Away,” which led to the band coming out of the stage, starting things off with their song “EMPTYHANDED.” Once the show started, it did not stop. There were still crowd surfers during slower songs like “TOO LATE,” and everyone enjoyed hearing the older tune “80/20SKYBEEF.” Saxophone and flute player, Gabi Rose, lended her vocals during multiple songs throughout the set, which brought an additional energy to the already energetic songs. Gabi Rose is a solo artist who has been featured on many different bands’ songs, including Sleep Token’s masterful comeback single, “Emergence.” Gabi stated Toronto was the loudest crowd of the tour so far.

What makes Bilmuri unique is what makes them great. The way they perfectly blend their country influence with rock and metalcore is something bands have been trying to do for ages. Yet, Bilmuri embraced it and has mastered it, making a dedicated fanbase from it. Everyone shined on stage and gave it their all. “There is no one that does it better than the Macho Man, Bilmuri.”
