The Maine Performed at History on April 15th alongside Nightly, Grayscale, and Broadside.

With so many bands, it felt like a festival of pop punk/rock. It started off with Broadside, then

Grayscale and Nightly are rounding out the bill for the opener performances.

I was only able to catch Nightly, who performed songs from their album songs to drive to.

The stage had a pink neon sign ‘<3’, which can be seen in the album cover as well. This was

a calm set to get the crowd settled in.

The Maine opened their set with Another Night on Mars and later went into Die to Fall from

their recent album Joy Next Door. Their Tenth Studio album shows the band's

growth/evolution without losing its core identity. One of the highlights of the show is John

O’Callaghan’s crowd work in between songs. He found the oldest fan in the crowd and

then decided to crowd surf through HISTORY. He also asked the crowd to hold up

lighters/phone lights.

The show felt very intimate due to Maine’s interaction with the crown. The night continued

with the Valley coming out during the song “Blame”. A surprise to most and shows how The

Maine is tuned into Toronto’s Indie scene. The night rounded off with the Maine bringing out

the opening acts again, making the stage feel ever so small.
